The Interior Studio; proud sponsor of the Budleigh Salterton Literary Festival 2017!
We were honoured to be invited by the festival to design the seating sets for three venues across Budleigh Salterton. Our collaboration began a couple of months prior to the event, involving discussions with the committee on the theme and genre of this years festival.
Naturally, one can presume that ‘books’ would dominate ones thinking surrounding how we style venue settings. However, we concluded on choosing to play on the location of Budleigh Salterton: ‘by the sea’, celebrating the natural beauty of the area and fortunate climate.
Palm trees; such a common perennial in the gardens of Budleigh, featured as the most prominent natural element to the stage designs. We used
Vincent Sheppard outdoor chairs and tables and French fabric for the cushions for our guest speakers to sit on. Most notable speakers included; BBC North America editor, Jon Sopel; Dame Hillary Mantel; Jeremy vine; Alan Johnson; Bridget Kendall; and Nicholas Crane.
The Interior Studio thoroughly enjoyed this years festival and look forward to further collaborations in the future celebrating some of the finest authors in the country.
