Christmas at The Interior Studio

2019 Theme

Alpine Chic

This year’s Christmas window is inspired by the French Alps. The fabric chosen to upholster the French chair, represents a Coco Chanel tweed look; a personal love of Suzanne’s.

Delicate, fine soft furnishings, such as the woven felt item to the right – designed and hand-made by a talented local artisan – adds character by balancing the elegant and sophisticated tweed, with a more care-free and natural feel. Reminding us of the effortless and coincidental idea that the snow and mountains in Europe reveal to us.

How we designed this year’s display

Planning for the Christmas scheme typically begins well in advance, where inspiration invariably crops up from numerous and diverse places. This year was no exception.

Suzanne has always had an affinity with the black and white, tweed textured, design style of Coco Chanel, whom arguably represents the most in elegance and class of design. This has been brought into the colour scheme of this year’s display with both furniture upholstery and silk fabric sporting this simple yet effective colour combination.

One, also, associates this time of the year with trips off skiing into Europe’s reverent Alps enjoying its numerous picturesque ski resorts, nestled in the secure surrounding of the mountain ranges. How fitting, therefore, to host a beautifully snow kissed tree in the foreground of what can only be described as a formal portrayal of palatial architecture befitting of the reverence that the mountain ranges provide.
